What Do I Need to Send My Child to Camp With?

Next month we’ll be starting the 2013 camp season!!! Hooray!  So you may be wondering, “What will I need to send my child to camp with?” Have no worries – here’s a quick rundown on what you need to know!

Stepping Stones:
For parents of our Stepping Stones Campers (Nursery through those entering Kindergarten), your child should bring a shoebox labeled with his/her name and their group name to our Parent/Camper Orientation on June 22nd. The shoebox should contain a complete change of clothing including shorts, shirt, socks, underwear, sweatshirt, swim socks/shoes and sunscreen.  This box, with its contents, will be kept here at camp.

Stepping Stones, Main Camp & Voyagers:
At our Parent/Camper Orientation on Saturday, June 22nd (or on the first day of camp), your child will receive a North Shore Day Camp backpack, which they will use daily to bring with them to and from home every day. Please send sunscreen and 2 bathing suits in the backpack daily. Campers entering 5th-9th grades need only 1 bathing suit unless they are taking “swim club” or private after-camp swim lessons. No towels are needed as we provide a fresh towel at each swim!

Additionally, please dress your child in comfortable clothing every day (shorts and a t-shirt are best). Campers MUST also wear sneakers daily. On cool or wet days, send your child with a sweatshirt, light jacket or raincoat as the weather dictates. Oh, and be sure to label EVERYTHING your camper wears to camp!

Special Dress-up Days:
Keep an eye on the camp calendar for special dress-up days such as Pajama Day, Super Hero Day, Red White & Blue Day…etc. just to name a few.  These are especially fun for our campers! (And if truth be told, for all of our staff too!)  For Group Photo Day, all of our campers will receive a complimentary camp t-shirt on the day their group is scheduled to have their group picture taken. For our older campers, they will receive their t-shirts either the day their group picture is taken or on their first Trip Day.  Which ever comes first.

Should you wish to order additional camp gear, please visit North Shore Day Camp’s  Everything Camper website. For our older campers in particular, we strongly suggest you order additional camp t-shirts as we require that our campers wear their camp shirts on trip days. Please be sure to order them by June 15th to ensure timely delivery.  (Suggested order: Campers entering 5th and 6th grades should order one additional t-shirt and Voyager campers should order at least 3 additional t-shirts.)

Finally, please DO NOT permit your child to bring any valuables to camp (jewelry, iPods, iPhones, cell phones, money, collectibles, etc.)
