Fall Reunion & Open House

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Beautiful weather, smiling faces, and pumpkins abound!  This past weekend we held our annual Fall Festival Reunion & Open House along with our friends from North Shore Day School.  Campers & students arrived (some in costumes!) and were treated to a ton of fun activities including painting pumpkins, rides on horse-drawn carriages, and taking turns bouncing on and sliding through the multiple inflatables and train rides!  With exceptional October weather, it was a spectacular day!

For our current North Shore families, this was an opportunity to return to their summer home & visit with old friends before the winter months, while it also provided prospective North Shore Families with an opportunity to tour our facilities and meet some of our wonderful staff.  Check out some of the pictures we took below!

Counting Down the Days Yet?

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

It’s school time again! Like us, you’re probably feeling a little sad that camp is over and school has begun. Back to the books & homework, counting down the days until we can come back to our summer home and all our great friends – both new and old!  So to help you daydream about camp, check out some of these great photo highlights to relive some of your favorite camp memories!

And how about letting us know how you’re doing?  We’d love to hear from you!  Are you starring in your school’s theater production?  Did you make the soccer team? Send us your updates to be included in a future blog post!  Submissions can be sent to letters@camptlc.com.

Before you know it, camp will be right around the corner again! Hey, it’s only 285 days until summer 2012 at NSDC begins!

NSDC’s Show Club Production of Annie

Friday, August 12th, 2011

Broadway came to North Shore Day Camp with our Show Club’s production of Annie! A musical about a young orphan girl’s adventures and journey in finding a family that will adopt her.

Our campers and staff worked so hard for six weeks to bring everyone’s all-time favorite musical to North Shore Day Camp’s drama stage.  It was an amazing show with our talented campers singing their hearts out! Parents, campers and staff all enjoyed this fabulous production! Congratulations to NSDC’s 2011 Show Club on a job well done! :)

Our Stepping Stone Campers are Reaching New Heights!

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

On their very own magical and intimate part of the campus, our Stepping Stones (campers from 2.5 – 5 years old) groups are kept small, and staffing is extensive. Activities are led by trained specialists who have early childhood expertise, and a great enthusiasm for young children.  Many of our staff and campers are part of our family at North Shore Day School during the school year.

In athletics, campers have been learning so many important skills.  They have been dribbling and passing in basketball; learning stick handling in hockey; passing and shooting in soccer; forehand and backhand in tennis; throwing, catching and positioning in softball; and more!  It’s amazing to watch the Stepping Stones cross the low ropes, high up in the trees. And, as always, Ga-Ga has become everyone’s favorite activity!

The Stepping Stones are loving the pools too!  They are learning breathing techniques, front crawl, back and front float and some have even taken the plunge and gone down the slide in the big pool!  Swim periods are a refreshing part of everyone’s day.

We are having an amazing summer in Stepping Stones!  Life long memories and friendships are being made every day here at North Shore Day Camp!

Exciting Trips in our Voyagers Program!

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

With 2 to 3 days per week in camp, and 2 to 3 days of travel, the Voyagers mix the best of Day Camp with a taste of “Teen Travel”. While at camp, Voyagers have two electives per day, one swim, and activities that we know that they love.

On the other days, they find themselves enjoying special and exciting adventures in NYC, at the beach, all over the Island, or out of NY, including two extended, 4 day trips to exciting destinations!

Our most recent trip for Summer 2011 was “Gone Fishing” where our teens boarded a boat and went out for a day with their fishing poles in-hand for a spectacular afternoon. Fish were bountiful along with the many other creatures of the seas that we came across! See for yourself in the pictures below!

Family Day

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

This past weekend North Shore Day Camp was filled with the laughter of children!  Although we were concerned the weather wouldn’t hold out, the smiles on everyone’s faces held-off the rain for another fun-filled Family Day!

Campers and parents enjoyed some arts & crafts, face painting, pony rides, magic shows, balloon animals, tennis, soccer and an ice cream truck was on-hand in case you wanted something to nibble on – yum!  We were also really excited to unveil our new miniature golf course, and after a few rounds on the greens, the feedback we got was: A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Check out some of the pictures below.  Only 33 more days until camp starts – we can’t wait! :)

Fall Festival & Reunion

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Campers and parents alike came adorned in Halloween costumes to enjoy our Fall Festival Reunion. Everyone enjoyed the hay and train rides, the inflatable bounces, painting pumpkins, the delicious snacks (the soft pretzels were definitely a favorite!) and trick or treat gifts. We were thrilled that so many campers attended. We’ll be making a donation to Project Morry for every one of them. It was wonderful seeing all of our camp families and we’re counting down the days until summer 2011! (To see photos from the day, click the “Continue reading Fall Festival Reunion” link below!) Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

One of the most frequently asked questions we get from our camp parents is “When can I come to camp and play too?” Well the answer to that question is “Family Day!”   This past Sunday was our Family Day 2010 for our upcoming NSDC summer families and we had a fantastic time! (more…)
