Spotlight on Staff & Alumni Camper: Melissa
Hi! My name is Melissa and I’m 18 years old. I started out at North Shore Day Camp as a Stepping Stones Camper back in 1998, and now spend my summers lifeguarding and teaching swim. North Shore has always been a part of my family because my mother worked at the camp and my older brother was also a camper for several years too.
I grew up in Glen Head, so I am literally only minutes away from camp. I’ve met some of my closest friends at camp and I look forward to each summer – North Shore Day Camp is truly my second home. I absolutely love working at camp because of the friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere and I enjoy teaching the kids new swimming skills and making sure they are safe when they go swimming. My goal for each child is to have an amazing summer, just like I did when I came here as a camper!
During the school year I attend High School where this year I am the Senior Class President and I’m also involved in the yearbook club. I enjoy swimming, soccer and hanging out with my friends. After this summer however, I’ll be off to college where I’ll be studying elementary education. I can’t wait for this summer to begin! It’s only a few weeks away ~ I’ll see you all soon!!!
