STEPPING STONES

 

Carlota Drum

Division Leader, Nursery

Carlota enters her sixth summer as a Division Leader for our Nursery campers, bringing warmth, experience, and a deep connection to the NSDC community. 

During the school year, Carlota teaches at our very own North Shore Day School, working with Toddler and Nursery classes. The care, expertise, and joy she brings to her students carry seamlessly into the summer. Carlota continues to look forward to each season with our youngest campers and is dedicated to giving them a loving and memorable start to their camp journey.

Carlota is a proud mother of two children, Ryley and Jake, who grew up in the NSDC program and now serve as staff members themselves.

Candra McCoy

Division Leader, Nursery

Candra is excited for her sixth summer at camp, bringing her enthusiasm and expertise to NSDC’s Nursery team. During the year, Candra is a kindergarten teacher with the DOE and holds a Master’s Degree in Childhood and Special Education. 

One of her favorite parts of the summer is watching how much the children grow, both in confidence and independence.

When she’s not at camp, Candra enjoys hiking with her husband and spending quality time with her beloved Frenchies.

Jess Robbins

Division Leader, Pre-K

Jess is excited for her 4th summer at NSDC as a member of the leadership team. Jess has been around camp almost her entire life, growing up as a camper and now helping to create unforgettable memories for her Stepping Stones campers. Jess especially enjoys having fun with some of our youngest campers, seeing their excitement each day, and making new memories alongside them.

Jess feels fortunate to work at the same camp that her family attends, giving her the unique opportunity to experience the NSDC magic as both a parent and a staff member. Her husband, Todd, one of our Associate Directors, and their two children, Cali and Andi, have attended camp for six and four summers, respectively.

During the year, Jess works at Friends Academy as the Lower & Middle School Administrator. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Event/Hospitality Management.

Outside of camp, Jess enjoys working out, spending time with friends, and traveling with her family as much as possible.

Lauren Mirra

Division Leader, Pre-K

Lauren has been a member of the North Shore Day Camp family since 2017, serving as one of our Pre-K Division Leaders. She is known for her warmth, patience, and deep understanding of early childhood development. Lauren plays an essential role in creating a nurturing and joyful camp experience for our youngest campers. In addition to guiding children, she is a trusted resource for parents, helping them navigate their child’s first camp experience with confidence and ease. Her ability to support both campers and families has made her an invaluable part of the community.

Lauren lives in Roslyn with her husband, Sal, and their two children, Daniella and Sal. Lauren’s passion for working with young children, combined with her genuine care and expertise, continues to enrich the North Shore Day Camp community year after year.

 

GIRLS’ SIDE

Aubrey Siegel

Division Leader, Kindergarten Girls

Aubrey has been in the North Shore family for over 20 summers. She is excited to return as the Kindergarten Girls’ Division Leader. Having spent most of her summers at North Shore, camp has truly become her second home. Aubrey loves her campers, camp families and friends as well as the magic that makes every day feel exciting and full of possibility.

Aubrey holds an undergraduate degree in Education from SUNY Cortland and two Master’s degrees in Reading and ENL from St. John’s University. During the year, she teaches 2nd grade in a self-contained ENL classroom in Queens.

Aubrey loves how camp blends adventure, friendship, and personal growth. She cherishes the endless summer days, theme days/special events, outdoor fun, and watching her son, Liev, love camp as much as she does.

Outside of camp, Aubrey enjoys the beach, the gym, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing in the sunshine.

Jamie Sall

Division Leader, 1st Grade Girls

Jamie is entering her 21st summer at NSDC and her eighth summer as our 1st Grade Girls Division Leader. She began her NSDC journey as a camper, later becoming a CIT, a general counselor and group leader, now she is a proud member of the leadership team.

Jamie earned her Master of Social Work from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work and holds her LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). She is also trained in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions). During the year, Jamie works as a child and adolescent psychotherapist at Ness360 Psychology, based in Port Washington.

Jamie calls camp her happy place. She loves watching campers and counselors come out of their shells, find their voice, and embrace one another. Whether leading impromptu dance parties or bringing laughter to the morning line-up, she brings energy, warmth, and heart to all she does.

When she’s not at camp, Jamie enjoys spending time with her nephews, going to concerts, boxing, and traveling.

Allie Olivo

Division Leader, 2nd Grade Girls

Allie is excited for her sixth summer at North Shore Day Camp and her first as the 2nd Grade Girls’ Division Leader.

Over the past five summers, Allie has grown at camp as a counselor, group leader, bus counselor, and bus driver, all experiences that have given her a well-rounded perspective and deep appreciation for the NSDC community.

During the school year, she is a 2nd grade teacher in a New York City public school. Allie earned her undergraduate degree from SUNY Cortland and holds certifications in General Education and Special Education (1–6). She will also be graduating in May with her Master’s degree in TESOL (K–12).

Allie returns to NSDC each summer because it truly feels like a home away from home. She considers it a place filled with positive energy, lifelong friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Allie is thrilled to bring her experience and enthusiasm into this new role and help make it an amazing summer for her campers.

In her free time, she enjoys baking, tie-dye crafting, being creative, and dancing.

 

Sara Oro

Division Leader, 3rd/4th Grade Girls

Sara is excited to return for her sixth summer at North Shore Day Camp as our 3rd and 4th Grade Girls’ Division Leader. Sara is no stranger to camp, having grown up going herself. She is a strong believer that the relationships formed between campers and staff are what helps to make the experience so memorable. 

During the school year, she is an elementary school special education teacher in the DOE. Sara brings her passion for supporting kids, building confidence, and creating meaningful connections into everything she does both at school and during camp. 

Sara enjoys getting to spend the summer watching her own daughter, Scarlett, develop the same genuine love for camp.

BOYS’ SIDE

Lindsay Giloni

Division Leader, Kindergarten Boys

Lindsay is excited for her fourth summer at North Shore Day Camp leading our Kindergarten Boys’ division. Lindsay brings enthusiasm, organization, and a genuine love for camp to her role each summer.

During the school year, Lindsay is a high school social studies teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, as well as two master’s degrees—one in Special Education and another in Administration.

One of Lindsay’s favorite parts of camp is meeting new campers and getting to know their families, along with reconnecting with her incredible counselors who return each summer. She loves watching children build friendships, gain confidence, and step outside of their comfort zones to try new activities.

Lindsay lives in Roslyn with her husband and their two children, Avery and Tyler. Outside of camp, she enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, reading, and traveling together during school breaks.

Lisa Cotsonas

Division Leader, 1st Grade Boys

Lisa is entering her fifth summer as our 1st Grade Boys’ Division Leader. Lisa loves her role where at camp, she provides children with a safe, fun, and enriching summer each year.

Lisa has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. During the school year, she is a Kindergarten teacher for the DOE. She is passionate about growing as an educator, with a particular focus on students with disabilities and those in gifted and talented programs. 

She loves meeting her new camp families each summer and reconnecting with past campers as they continue to grow.

Outside of camp, Lisa enjoys relaxing at the beach and getting lost in a good book.

Jess Cohen

Division Leader, 2nd Grade Boys

Jess is thrilled to be returning for her third summer on staff and her first summer as our 2nd Grade Boys’ Division Leader. Having grown up at camp as a kid, she has always loved the special energy and warmth of the summer community and feels lucky to now be part of it as a leader.

Jess holds a Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education and works during the school year as an elementary school teacher in the North Shore Central School District. She especially looks forward to watching campers grow and thrive over the summer in ways that are uniquely possible in the camp setting.

She is excited to reconnect with campers and staff from previous summers while also building new relationships and memories this year. Jess also loves that her own two children, Emma and Zach, attend camp.

Outside of camp, Jess enjoys solo trips to Home Goods, squeezing in a workout when the motivation strikes, and keeping up with her favorite Bravolebs.

 

Ricki Zimmerman

Division Leader, 3rd/4th Grade Boys

Ricki is thrilled to return for her 15th summer at North Shore Day Camp, bringing years of experience and a genuine love for camp life. Throughout her time at NSDC, Ricki has worked on both Girls’ and Boys’ Side and has even supervised our CITs.

Ricki graduated from Binghamton University and earned her Master’s Degree in Childhood General and Special Education from Queens College. During the school year, she teaches high school biology at a public school in Queens.

A lover of the outdoors, Ricki spends her free time playing soccer, hiking new trails, and learning creative hula-hoop tricks. She believes camp is a place where people of all ages discover who they are, build confidence, and form connections that last a lifetime.

Ricki looks forward to greeting campers each morning with a smile and watching them grow throughout two magical, fun-filled months at NSDC.

 

C.R.E.W.

Alyssa Reyer

Division Leader, C.R.E.W. Boys & Girls

Alyssa is excited for her third summer as our C.R.E.W. Division Leader. North Shore Day Camp has always had a special place in her heart ever since she grew up here as a camper for three summers. Alyssa loves coming back each year now as both a parent and a leader. This summer will be Alyssa’s daughter Teddy’s fourth summer at camp. 

Alyssa holds master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and School Counseling. During the year, she works as a school counselor in two elementary schools on Long Island. 

What Alyssa loves most about working at camp is spending time outdoors and enjoying all of the amazing activities camp offers. She especially looks forward to the weekly trips that our C.R.E.W. program has to offer and the opportunity to try new experiences alongside her campers. Some of Alyssa’s favorite trips include Jones Beach and Club Getaway. When not traveling on trips, Alyssa loves competing on our new NSDC Pickleball courts. 

 

SWIM

Vanessa Schroeder

Swim Director

Vanessa is returning for her 12th summer at North Shore Day Camp, and her eighth season as our Swim Director. With over 25 years of experience teaching swim as a certified Water Safety Instructor, she brings exceptional knowledge, leadership, and passion to our aquatics programming.

Each summer, Vanessa works to create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment at all of our NSDC pools. She and her dedicated lifeguard staff ensure that every swimmer feels comfortable, engaged, and excited to learn.

During the year, Vanessa teaches in the Merrick School District. Her two children grew up at NSDC, internalizing the spirit, confidence, and joy that make camp so special. In fact, her younger son, Hudson, will be returning to camp this summer as a staff member!

Vanessa loves that North Shore Day Camp is ‘the place to be’ and a place where confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories are made. She can’t wait to ‘dive’ into another amazing summer.

Jillian Terrana

Assistant Swim Director

Jillian is thrilled to be back for her 11th summer at North Shore Day Camp as the Assistant Swim Director. Jillian loves nothing more than spending her days poolside, cheering on campers as they learn new skills, conquer the deep end, and splash around with their camp friends. Returning each summer allows Jillian to dive right back into her camp family and she wouldn’t want it any other way.

When Jillian isn’t at the pool, she’s busy adventuring with her husband and three kids. Whether she’s hiking new trails or cheering from the sidelines at every sport imaginable, she’s always on the move and loving every minute of it. Her energy, warmth, and infectious camp spirit help make every summer at NSDC unforgettable.
